Data Deletion

Last updated 15 August 2026

You can delete your Slowburn account and the data attached to it at any time, from inside the app or by writing to us. This page explains how, what is erased, and what we are required to keep. It applies to the Slowburn mobile app and myslowburn.app, and it is part of our Privacy Policy.

Delete from inside the app

  1. Open Slowburn.
  2. Go to You → Settings.
  3. Tap Delete Account and confirm.

Deletion starts immediately and cannot be undone. You do not need to contact us first, and you do not need to give a reason.

Removing the app from your phone does not delete your account. Data held on our servers stays until you delete the account itself — including for guest accounts, which are tied to a random identifier rather than an email address.

Ask us to delete it instead

If you cannot reach the in-app option — you lost the device, you cannot sign back in, or the app will not open — send us the request by email. This button opens your mail app with the whole thing written for you; fill in whatever you know about the account and send it.

Email a deletion request

Or write to [email protected] yourself, with the subject Delete my Slowburn account.

Tell us how to find the account: the email address you signed in with, or, for a guest account, the display name you used and roughly when you last read. We may ask you to confirm the request from the email address on the account before we act on it, so that nobody else can delete your stories.

We acknowledge requests within 5 business days and complete them within 30 days.

What gets deleted

Deletion runs against our own systems in a single transaction: the account record, every row attached to it, and the sign-in record. The companies that process data on our behalf — our database and backend host, our AI providers, our analytics and crash-reporting providers, and our purchases provider — hold their own copies and expire them on their own retention schedules, set out in their privacy policies. Where you have the right to have a provider's copy erased as well, and it is not covered by what we keep below, email us and we will pass the request on.

What we keep, and why

How long it takes

Your data is removed from our live systems as soon as the deletion runs. Encrypted backups are kept on a rolling schedule and any residual copy is overwritten within 30 days. Our providers' logs expire on their own retention schedules, typically within 90 days.

Deleting less than everything

You do not have to delete the whole account to change what we hold:

Depending on where you live, you may also have the right to a copy of your data, or to have it corrected, before you delete it. Email us and we will help.
